Aircraft status ratings

Hi Josh,

I have reverted your changed status ratings for the A380 and English Electric Lightning. Per the instructions at Aircraft rating system#In aircraft articles on the wiki, the ratings on the wiki are merely reflecting the rating as specified in the aircraft's -set.xml file. If you disagree with a rating, it should be updated aircraft-side and only then the wiki should follow suit.

Thanks!

Hi Gijs, Yes I disagree. The A380 is nowhere NEAR 4 stars in any catagory, and the cockpit in the Electric is not a 5 star by any stretch of imagination. Given both airplanes are unmaintained, who do I talk to to edit the -set? Octal450 (talk) 06:14, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
As there's no formally laid down procedure, it comes down to common sense. First step would of course be to contact the respective developer(s). If they are not available (which seems likely in the Electric case, but for the A380 I see at least Fahim is listed as one of the authors, who's still around), I'd announce your idea (i.e., why you think your new ratings are justified) on the mailing list and make the change if there's no reply from anyone opposing the change in, let's say, one week.

Fahim is still around, do you know where I could contact him? Then I must just figure out how to broach the subject without sounding rude... Octal450 (talk) 07:49, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
He has a forum account This is a link to the FlightGear forum. and he is also active on the mailing list.
