Talk:FlightGear Newsletter April 2022

I think we should remove the big text block "Note  FlightGear is currently undergoing a lot of huge changes ...".

This text block has been included in the last 9 newsletters with, i think, no changes in that time.

IMHO this text block dominates the newsletter too much, making the page ugly and hard to read. The information is certainly useful, but no more so than other information in the newsletter. So i think it should be included in a more standard way, for example as a shortened summary with a link to the full information.

Agree. You could even remove it as far as I'm concerned, as it's not even "news" anyway if it's been included for months already. It'd be far better to focus the section on actual new developments or status updates.
Might also be a good moment to cleanup some of the other "standard" items?

Thanks to Hooray for fixing this.

The point was that James explicitly suggested to communicate this being the case "soonish", which is why adding his comments to the newsletters seemed sensible (despite obnoxious) - obviously, people actively following the devel list, or actively involved on the forum, are less likely to find that information useful. Anyway, at least it's now part of a handful of newsletters, so that we can clearly tell people that this has been widely communicated over the course of the last couple of months. So, if/when FG gets rid of the fixed-function pipeline, there should hopefully be less friction ... --Hooray (talk) 14:06, 8 April 2022 (UTC)
