Reading the first section:

First note, even though the README says to install FGUK before installing the aircraft, there is no longer a need to do so. The aircraft can and does work as intended without the FGUK. Furthermore, FGUK is no longer accessible, the Domain Registrar seems to have repossessed the web address as it is back up for sale. As with all other user downloaded aircraft, after downloading the aircraft, remember to remove "-master" from the unzipped file name before placing it into a folder that FlightGear searches for aircrafts in.
Hi :) The FGUK hangar is at fguk.me instead of fguk.eu. The UK left the EU (Brexit), and the domain names changed. Google says the C-17 is still up for download here: https://fguk.me/hangar/turboprops/download/7-military-jets/112-c-17-fdm-test21 . (I think download zip files intended for end-users at dedicated hangar websites like FGUK don't have the git branch **-master folder suffix)
Is this FGMembers version the most recent version? Kind regards Vs (talk) 06:46, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
Updated, the aircraft github is the same version.... I think, the fguk add-on is just for visual effects mostly, and not much to do with the performance of the aircraft. Doorknob7-4-7 (talk) 06:52, 4 October 2021 (UTC) Just a difference in download name. Doorknob7-4-7 (talk) 06:59, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
There might be some confusion here.
  • The C-17 readme file talks about an FGUK addon - the payloads package. FGUK is FlightGear UK, a hangar and community. So the wiki article doesn't mention the FGUK payloads package. The readme says this aircraft is the FGUK version.
  • FGUK are the main developers of this craft. FGMEMBERS is mostly a collection of aircraft from different sources, and it's often outdated in recent years AIUI.
  • The commit history of the C-17 on the FGMEMEBRS github repo shows the last commit is from 2016. The FGUK page shows the last update is from 2019?? So the FGMEMEBERS version is outdated.
  • FGUK downloads are temporarily down while they rebuild their website after updating to the latest PHP and fix downloads. It should be fixed soon. FGUK are reachable on the forum, and I sent a PM to StuartC asking. I don't think this aircraft was lost - it's just the wiki page wasn't updated. There's a lot of aircraft in the FGUK hangar that don't seem to have a corresponding wiki page yet. Updates to FGUK craft are announced in the aircraft forum.
I think the best course of action is to improve the original C-17 webpage (which wasn't associated with a hangar yet), and just link the developer's hangar (which also contains the latest version). It's better to link to the latest version, which should be on the main developers hangar unless someone is working on the FGMEMEBERS hangar as the primary repository. Thanks for working on the newsletter too :) - the way the newsletter works is this month's newsletter is released at the end of the month, so the October newsletter is the one you should be working on rather than the November one :) You could just say wikipages have been created/updated for xyz craft - since the aircraft weren't actually lost, and the wiki article was just out-of-date.
