FGTour AfD addition in 01/2013
Hi, referring to your edit at [1]. I got a heads-up sent by Michat regarding your AfD addition. Frankly, I also don't know what exactly all this is about, but looking at the quality of the edits and the content, I'm having a hard time finding your harsh comments ("WTF") warranted. In general, we encourage people not to use abusive language, while this cannot be enforced on the devel list and other decentralized channels like IRC, it can (and usually is) discouraged on the forum and the wiki, where we have moderators and/or admins. In addition, finding such harsh words to describe an obviously time-consuming contribution is extremely discouraging. Please keep in mind that we are all volunteering our time here. As you undoubtedly know, FlightGear doesn't just need a single type of talent (or even personality). So even if you yourself should not appreciate the effort put into pages like the FGtour pages, that cannot necessarily be said for other users. Finally, the quality of the FGtour pages, the layout and the content easily exceeds that of 90% of our wiki articles here, which is part of the wiki process obviously, because everything needs to be considered "in progress" until it matures. So, please: let's give contributors the benefit of the doubt (and especially time) so that they can work, without directly questioning new contributions like you have done - it's not like there's some nonsense C++ code added to the next branch causing segfaults, right ? Thanks - all the best, --Hooray 12:57, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- Well, first of all i'm not alone with my opinion: [2], secondly, this page(s) certainly were a lot of work, but inventing other peoples statements and using pictures of dubious origin is not what we want here. --Papillon81 13:13, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link, Gijs also just sent it to me - I'm having a look right now. Still, even if several people questioned the article's state a month ago, the current state looks pretty compelling to me. I don't know about the use of images and certain "statements" (which is why I asked Aepcam to get directly in touch with Gijs). And referring to the head shots, I also don't know if the official jsbsim website qualifies as "dubious origin" ? But that should be easy to sort out, given that this is not about celebrities but obviously long-term project contributors who should be fairly easy to reach by eMail. Let's try to reserve the really ugly vocabulary for the scammers, and not people who are contributing to the main project. --Hooray 13:44, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- Don't know why Michat asked you to take care of the images, because I've already explained that to him...
