I found this 3D convert tool also, maybe should get a mention on the page also:

It can convert from mdl also.

With Blender you already able to convert many files. ModelConverterX is nice for mdl's and MSFS-products, but there are two big But: Make sure that you have the permission to use the model especially regarding the licence under you want to use it later, otherwise the tool isn't very helpful. And ModelConverterx is just for win-users as I know
