Talk:Aircraft deployment

We need to reflect that parts of some aircraft reside outside the dedicated aircraft folder e.g. in AI/Aircraft and in various Generic folders (or even in other Aircraft folders). This is not cast in concrete, and if necessary could be changed.

We also need to recognise that this is a pressing issue - FGData on Gitorious is already not fit for purpose, and indeed never has been.

  • fgdata/git is working satisfactorily on my systems (GNU/Linux and Windows 7). The two things that are problematic are downloading the initial clone and placing merge requests in the Gitorious web-GUI (and the latter, by all means, is more of a nice-to-have rather than a necessity). I would also claim that version control for development and distribution to users are two different problems that most likely will not have a single solution. AndersG 09:02, 26 June 2011 (EDT)

It would be nice to explictly address the concept of streaming aircraft for use in MP, if that is possible either within this proposal, or as an add-in.

We have entered this in the middle - when you are up to your arse is alligators it is difficult to remember that the aim was to drain the swamp - we should state the problem which this proposal seeks to remedy at the very beginning. I _think_ it is to solve the problem of an excessively large repo. --Vivian 15:56, 26 June 2011 (EDT)
