Courchevel Airport is a small airport, infamous in the world of aviation, considered the home of one of the shortest runways in the world, which has a length of 525 meters and an inclination of 18.5% to slow the aircraft during landing. The airport has a dangerous approach, through a large valley, which may only be done by certified pilots. The airport is located on the side of a very steep hill that has seem some incidents.

It is not well developed in FlightGear, except by a custom scenery package; however it still presents a challenge to anyone brave enough to dare to land.

Custom Scenery

The french PAF team has developed a custom scenery for multiple "altiports" (small airfields located in the Alps), which also includes Courchevel. The development thread can be found on their forum with download available from here(scroll down to Scènes/Scenery). It simulates the extraordinary terrain by using a 3D object, instead of the normal terrain generated by TerraGear.
