Background
We've seen recurring discussions on declaring certain legacy features obsolete, i.e. phasing them out over time for the sake of improving FlightGear and doing away with "cruft" (i.e. usually unused/unmaintained SimGear/FlightGear components or stuff no longer compatible).
This article is intended to become a collection of pointers to such discussions to hopefully enable people to look up the relevant background information.
