Also, if you are looking for other systems that are mostly undocumented, FlightGear has plenty of other such opportunities! :-) We were for example recently talking about the lack of good documentation for the radar system on the forums: http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7475 :-)
