Nice job guys

Looking for a flight simulator to test out my new laptop (With WinVista and SuSE Linux), and my old force feedback joy stick. FlightGear works fine... well mostly, problesm I have encountered so far include:

  • Windows Vista:
  1. jumpiness in force feedback - (solved with a strip of tape over the light sensor under the palm... blush)
  2. run fgjs and set the appropriate buttons, only to find no change in the actual JS.
  3. Cannot click on the control panel to change setting, eg radio freq.
  • SuSE Linux:
  1. Needed to run yast to find the Logitech Wingman joystick.
  2. Some of the buttons are unassigned. (solved by editing the XML)
  3. Force feed back doesn't appear to be working, not sure what to do (yet).

Also: I am pondering how hard it would be to input the flight dynamic of Richard Pearse's monoplane. It would be kind of fun seeing how far I could fly the 1904 flying machine before "landing" in a hedge as well.

I have yet to join any FG mailing list, nor research the web resources.

BTW: the fsjs tool it useful, but could be made sexier, and tested on Win & Linux.
