The following template description is not displayed when the template is inserted in an article.
Goal
This template can be placed at the top of a section that is to be split off from an article.
Pages marked with this template will automatically be added to the category Articles to be split. Categorisation can be suppressed with the nocat parameter.
Splitting of a section can be done if it is off topic from the article, makes the article very long or could be better maintained as a separate article etc. The split is done by moving text from a section to a new page.
Usage
The template is placed at the top of the section to be split off.
{{splitapart|discussion page |date=November 2024 |nocat=}}
- discussion page
- Optional name of a discussion page with a section about the split.
- date
- Optional date the split was proposed in m YYYY format, for example November 2024.
- nocat
- Optionally suppresses automatic categorisation if true. Useful in examples.
