The tooltip-id is important to distinguish when the mouse moves over different scene objects (with potentially the same tooltip), or crosses between different objects without an intervening hit on an area with no tooltip assigned. In both cases, the ID is necessary to give correct updating. | The tooltip-id is important to distinguish when the mouse moves over different scene objects (with potentially the same tooltip), or crosses between different objects without an intervening hit on an area with no tooltip assigned. On some Mac and Windows builds the Canvas tooltip we use for various pop-up messages is appearing as a white box, if used in conjunction with OSG 3.4 <ref>{{cite web

Using OSG 3.4, for some time now pop up messages have been almost unreadable. The box is semi-transparent white, with VERY light grey text. The text is so light as to be almost but invisible. Is this a local setting, or other Windows users seeing this? The normal menu windows have not changed, it is just the pop-ups such as cycle view and “mouse is controlling xxx”<ref>{{cite web
