in my main PC, which i had the GTX 970, Flightgear never successfully utilied all my resources, effectively running as it would a desktop application, with lower clock speeds than normal for gaming(just like it would for Firefox), these are reffered to as "pstates", running just under 1Khz when it's supposed to be higher. — Hamza Alloush (Aug 16th, 2015). I found the opposite: enabling Advanced Weather in cloudy conditions *in*creased the frame rate from maybe 16 to 18 (but with enough variability in both cases that it was hard to measure; ALS and cloud density made little difference), but would often draw a patch of rainfall but not (until much nearer) its cloud of origin, which I find looks weird. For the more general question of what to enable by default, what we could really do with is a way to automatically adjust to the hardware. — Rebecca N. Palmer (Aug 13th, 2015). If advanced features are enabled the core devs should highly consider optimiing FG, and maybe SimGear — Jorge Pareja (Aug 13th, 2015). Re: [Flightgear-devel] Removing Basic Weather.
