Bournemouth Airport is a medium sized airport on the south coast of England. The airport started life in the 1940s as RAF Hurn, and is now a major base for Ryanair, Thompson Airways and EasyJet.

Bournemouth also has general aviation traffic, with the Bournemouth Flying Club and Cobham Aviation (a defense and civil contractor) located to the north of the runway.

Runways

Bournemouth has just one runway, 08/26. 26 is the preferential runway for landings/takeoffs, with the approach coming in over the New Forest. Do be aware that, being an old RAF field, Bournemouth has the classic triangle-shaped three runway configuration - but only 08/26 is still a runway! The other strips are now just very wide taxiways.
