Hi! Are you sure it is a good way to work to create hundreds of untranslated /es page first and then start translating (which I assume you intend to do eventually:)? I must say that to me it seems more efficient (and less disrupting to the rest of folks here) to start with the important pages (e.g. the main page - though I know you have made that one already) and really make a translation before moving on to more pages. Hi Aepcam, if you want to help translate articles, you should probably concentrate on the most important -and most popular- pages, many other articles are not that relevant to newcomers. You may want to check out http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Special:Statistics for a list of popular articles.--MILSTD 18:05, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Ready logotypes

Thank you for those nifty little logotypes.  :-) I think it will help people find what they are looking for a little bit faster, so I helped a little bit making a template that would make for less typing and in addition automatically categorise the pages with the template.

I have a slight suggestion: Why not "Aerotowable ready" (as in being able to be towed behind an aerotow) instead of "Soaring ready"? It might be a bit long word to fit in the logo, but... ;-)

--Johan G 19:53, 20 February 2012 (EST)

Thank you for creating category.
I was on doubts getting name's label. For sure Aerotowable is too long, however as a non native english speaker, allways I need yours feedbacks (that's help me a lot). I think aerotow can be used by twice in those aircraft that can aerotow and also in those which can be towed behind, just identificating a nexus word "Aerotow" as a sinthesis of same activity, for sure with your help we'll find a good solution if those label could be confuse.
Check News letter, I made others.
Thanks

I will go ahead and add more similar templates for the other logotypes for now. --Johan G 15:29, 21 February 2012 (EST)
Thanks, Johan G.

Incorporating into aircraft infobox

How about incorporating the templates into the aircraft infobox? IMO the current location is "wrong", as those logos (no matter how nice they are) are certainly not the most important thing of the entire article (placed all the way on top). Incorporating them with the rest of the aircraft info (status rating, type etc.) in the infobox would make it a lot clearer I think...

PS, please sign your messages on talk pages with ~~~~.

I'm totally agree in to incorporate the templates into aircraft infobox. I was thinking so when I'd created it, however those are placed on top (not for the importance) just for first approval look, easy to remove using first line code.
Because the diversity of aircrafts infoboxes, we should unified to the last one I think you made, but how, I don't know, but you count with my help.
Aepcam 01:56, 19 March 2012 (EDT) Michat
You both have a point there. Thanks for the input Gijs. (I added some indentation to parts of your post Aepcam. I hope you don't mind).
Johan G (Talk | contribs) 06:54, 19 March 2012 (EDT)
As far as I know there's just one aircraft infobox? Anyway, I've added the ready icons option to it. All you need to do is add something like |ready = bombable/airrefuel to the infobox. And delete the old image of course ;) All available options can be seen at {{Infobox Aircraft}}. To add new icons, look at {{Ready}}.
Gijs 13:51, 19 March 2012 (EDT)
I'm testing infobox icon at Douglas A-4 Skyhawk with bad results because an image size variation causes that the result is not well legible :(
Do you now if is possible by clicking infobox icon to go directly to the respective category group page.?
Do you create the dual control icon category? if so what is the name of it. It was the first I tried to, but i didn't find its name.
Thats all for the moment, your feedback will be appreciated cause coding isn't my strong point.
Aepcam 15:39, 19 March 2012 (EDT) Michat
The system is in {{Ready}} (click it to visit the template page, where it is explained how to add new icons). I did forget the dual control icon, added now. I'll link the icons to the category, good idea!
Gijs 15:43, 19 March 2012 (EDT)
please consider to make a first example of a complete infobox, so I can follow your procedure. :) thanks
Aepcam 15:48, 19 March 2012 (EDT) Michat
See Schleicher ASK 13 for an example of two icons. You can add all icons, but I don't think we've got an aircraft that fits all... :)
Oh and please use the "Show preview" button before saving a page. If you're just interested in how something looks/works, it's not needed to save the page (and thus eat up server space). Previews are free, and help a lot in saving space and making the history of articles clear.
Gijs 15:53, 19 March 2012 (EDT)
Thanks I'll following ask 13 example. I'll use preview, anyway I'm so afraid at saving/preview moments cause is not the first time I lost long update on an expire session. Thanks for you help Gijs.
Aepcam 16:02, 19 March 2012 (EDT) Michat
Everything is updated, now I have to modify dual control icon, it seems to be bigger than others. :) thanks for you tips
Aepcam 17:16, 19 March 2012 (EDT) Michat
resolved dual control image size difference. Now Its OK. Many thanks.:)

Glad to see that everything worked out well! We can always improve it if we want so.
Gijs 17:56, 19 March 2012 (EDT)
Gijs, please can you also create ready cat. for the aircraft of the month. I should remove all aircraft of the month's icons in those awarded aircraft pages, but I need that category in order to include those icons on infobox as we did before with other categories. Thanks by anticipate.
Best regards... Michat

Language Support

Hi GIJS, this is Michat. I'm suffering serious problems with my PC. Actually I can only use wiki from a neighbourg PC with very low connection speed. I have open a discussion here Talk:FlightGear Newsletter May 2012 , but I thinking that nobody read it yet.

Can you please take a look on it ?

Okay I'll try to repair and boot my PC, but it seems no good. :( Thanks

FGTour/Embassy

Hi,

could you please have a look at the question posed at Talk:Portal:FGembassyTour, before continuouning all the hard work?

Thanks! Gijs 15:51, 3 January 2013 (EST)

Hi, I have answered it know, I din't see it.
Thanks Gijs
Aepcam 18:28, 3 January 2013 (EST)
Hi again,
All images that you've uploaded recently have either copyright violations, wrong sources or both. I'll delete them if that isn't fixed before the weekend.
Cheers,

Renaming articles

Hi,

the wiki has a feature to rename articles. When you click the little triangle next to the search field and select "Move", you can enter the new name of the article. This way, we preserve the history of an article. In contrast to creating a new article and deleting the old one. ;-)

I've fixed this for the Spanish altitude article.

Thanks! Gijs 15:28, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi
Thanks for the tip Gijs, I'll check the way you did it.
Understand that feature is also changes the old way that we had using redirect when mistakes on title occurred. ?
I understand that if we change title page links will not been broken. Is that correct?
Now I'm trying a shared laptop, its quite horrible to use finger pad, I lost today's big wiki segment due to electrostatic. Sorry if I decided to save often. Finger pad is able to close almost PC session just with a pullover touch contact....
Michat
Aepcam 15:47, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes, when moving an article, the old page becomes a redirect to the new. And next to that it also takes care of talk pages, so it's a wonderful feature :-)
Gijs 16:12, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

. . . . . .

Indeed ;) Michat Aepcam 16:37, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

The Antonov aircraft

My apologies for being a bit slow on moving around the Antonov aircraft. It seems Gijs did the bulk of that job.

Changes to 2022 March newsletter

Hi, your recent changes to https://wiki.flightgear.org/FlightGear_Newsletter_March_2022 appear to have removed two items:

  • YASim now supports torus contact surfaces for landing gear
  • Pipistrel's electric trainer aircraft

Was this intentional?

Cgdae (talk) 19:18, 18 April 2022 (UTC)

Ah, i see that the information is still on the next newsletter, https://wiki.flightgear.org/FlightGear_Newsletter_April_2022. So you're quite right to exclude the information from the March newsletter. Thanks for clarifying.

I was confused because the March newsletter (that i think you created?) does not have a link to the April newsletter (so i thought it was the new latest newsletter) - instead it has a link saying "Create next Edition >" which creates a new May newsletter. Presumably the wiki template system's database has got messed up, but i've no idea how to fix things.

Thanks again.

Cgdae (talk) 20:05, 18 April 2022 (UTC)

FYI i've asked for someone to take a look at this, see: FlightGear_wiki:Village_pump#2022_Newsletters_forward.2Fbackward_links_are_broken

Hi, it seems that the wiki template is working just prior to https://wiki.flightgear.org/FlightGear_Newsletter_February_2022in but not later.
