The Douglas DC-3 is an American fixed-wing, propeller-driven aircraft whose speed and range revolutionized air transport in the 1930s and 1940s. Because of its lasting impact on the airline industry and World War II, it is generally regarded as one of the most significant transport aircraft ever made.

The C-47 is the military version of the DC-3 and in FlightGear much more sophisticated than this airplane. There is a complete and mouse triggered cockpit, many different livelies, better flying characteristics, cabine interior,

The C-47 got some World War II modifications (including being fitted with a cargo door, hoist attachment, and strengthened floor, along with a shortened tail cone for glider-towing shackles, and an astrodome in the cabin roof) but most of the airplane (main structure, flight characteristics, hydraulic, engines,...) hasn't changed. After WWII many C-47 have been reconverted to a DC-3. Most of the DC-3s flying today, are converted from C-47s. The seats in our FlightGear C-47 also lead to this conclusion. (The DC-3 model here does not even have cabine interior or doors)

Due to the tini differences between the DC-3 and C-47 decided the team to discontinue the development of the DC-3. Meanwhile the C-47 became one of the most advanced and most popular airplanes in FlightGear. So we recomment to download the Douglas C-47 Skytrain.
