Earthview is a fantastic piece of code that allows us to transition from an Aviation Sim towards a Space Sim with [[http://wiki.flightgear.org/Vostok-1 Vostok]], [http://UFO_from_the_%27White_Project%27_of_the_UNESCO the UFO] or [[http://wiki.flightgear.org/Space_Shuttle the Space Shuttle]].
[https://www.flightgear.org/tours/the-grand-view/ Earthview], FlightGear's orbital renderer, is a fantastic piece of code that allows us to transition from an Aviation Sim towards a Space Sim.

Already developed for some years now, it had a nice upgrade this year. More informations are available on the wiki page [[http://wiki.flightgear.org/Earthview Earthview wiki]] or the forum thread [https://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=87&t=15754&start=405 Earthview FG forum].
You can try out the [https://www.flightgear.org/tours/an-experience-like-no-other/ Space Shuttle] ([[:en:Space_Shuttle|wiki]]), strap in for an unforgettable ride aboard the [https://www.flightgear.org/tours/what-would-it-be-like-to-fly-a-rocket-into-space/ Vostok] [[:en:Vostok-1|(wiki]]), or take a suborbital cruise aboard the [http://www.flightgear.org/tours/pushing-the-boundaries-the-x-15-story/ X-15]. The [http://UFO_from_the_%27White_Project%27_of_the_UNESCO UFO] can do quick visits. Supersonic jets with light load-outs can also fly parabolas whose peaks of 17km+ rise above much of the atmosphere and up into the stratosphere.

Amongst others: better normal maps (feeling of ground deepness), bugs fixed, up to 16K textures depending on the season: [https://curl.irmp.ucl.ac.be/~chris/upload/fg/earthview/ Earthview world and clouds tiles ]
