Started using FlightGear in June 2021, after a couple of decades' absence from the flight sim hobby. Previously used Microsoft Flight Simulator in the late 1990s/early 2000s. I participated in a couple of virtual airlines during that era.

I really enjoy learning about procedures (checklists, etc) and systems (especially flight management computers) and get a real kick out of experiencing the user interface of flight management systems.

No real-world aviation experience, sadly.

I shamelessly stole the user info box from [[User:Johan_G|Johan_G]]'s user page, because I thought it was excellent. :-)

The flight control unit (FCU) is the panel on the glareshield that contains controls for the auto flight system, electronic flight information system (EFIS) screens and other systems. It contains various selector knobs that rotate. Some knobs can also be pushed or pulled in order to change modes or other settings.
