I have been flying since 2009 and two years later I began with the modelling and experimentation.
Usually I do can modeling and texturing of 3D models in SketchUp. Sometimes also in Blender, especially for dates for model animations. In the last few years I have been modeling at various airports or shared models.

'''Chagual Airport''' is an private Peruvian airfield owned by Compania Minera Poderosa and is located near the town Chagual in the district of Pataz. Chagual is the only airfield in the district offering passenger traffic, air cargo and operations.

The Chagual airfield, 3.980 feet high in the middle of the Andes, is a small airstrip with a length of 1.200 meter encased in a winding valley which only allows a very difficult and complicated visual approach. The approach to the runway 14 is made with a substantial bank angle on final, since due to the topography is impossible to make an approach centered on the axis of runway.

I now have FlightGear reading other aircraft in the RTI Federation (RTI speak for a simulation environment) and publishing it's own position information for other clients (in RTI known as Federates) to read. There's a screenshot showing it all here: http://www.nanjika.co.uk/flightgear/hla1.png There are a number of different components in play here: 1) A python script Federate which represents the KC-135 tanker. It publishes position updates a bit like we have for MP aircraft. 2) FlightGear itself as a Federate. It too is publishing position updates, but is also subscribing to updates and displaying them if appropriate. In this case it is displaying the KC-135 Federate. 3) A python script simulating a radar screen. This is receiving updates from both the KC-135 Federate and the FlightGear Federate and displaying them. The python scripts and all the clever stuff are courtesy of Mathias. The actual flightgear code changes amount to only 1.2kloc so far. I hope to be able to push some changes to flightgear soon.

By the end of this year (2015), the FlightGear Project's hosting for the [http://scenemodels.flightgear.org/ scenemodels] database and website and the [[TerraSync]] repository will no longer be available. As a result, the FlightGear Project is searching for a replacement, even just a temporary one. The technical requirements are roughly these:
* A [http://www.postgresql.org/ PostgreSQL] database (with the [http://postgis.net/ PostGIS] extension) of approximately 40 GB, with capacity to expand (this is for the scenemodels database).
* An Apache webserver, PHP, access to the database and the usual toolkit for hosting the scenemodels website
* An SVN server with 140+ GB for the TerraSync repository.
* Enough bandwith to serve the data.
* One or more reverse proxies serving TerraSync requests (not much storage required, just bandwidth).

The import into a postgresql database takes something between one day (hexacore, 64GB RAM, 4 disks RAID10 7200RPM 4TB Array) to one week (average quad core, 8GB, single consumer market HD) and explodes to several hundret GB for the database (depends a lot on filesystem params).

In Peru high up in the Sierra de la Libertad there are some airfields to found. One of the most popular is [[Chagual Airport]]. But there are some more beautiful places in the middle of the Andes. Not far from [[Chagual Airport]] there is [[Gochapita Airfield]] at an altitude of about 12.000 feet. For most of the year clouds covering the airfield in dense mist. Another difficult airport is [[Pias Airport]]. The final approach is a little complicated and risky because of the high mountainous terrain of the Coordillera and a descend rate of approx 2.000 feet per minute. 
This Scenery is now available for Download with airport data and layouts, airport buildings, villages and more. See [[Chagual Airport#Scenery]] for details on how to obtain this Scenery.

The Chagual airfield, 3.980 feet high in the middle of the Andes, is a small airstrip with a length of 1.200 meter encased in a winding valley which only allows a very difficult and complicated visual approach. The [[Grossenhain Airfield]] is one of the oldest operating airfields in Germany and a symbol of the aeronautical tradition of the town. The former military airfield is used since 1993 as a civil public airfield. Today different kinds of aviation sports are practised here. For example powered aviation, ultralight aviation, paragliding and gliding aviation. The airfield is approved for powered airplanes up to 14t take-off weight/up to 19 people. Pilots are flying under respect of visual flight rules (VFR), without radar and without airfield lighting. The adjoining "Fliegendes Museum" (en: flying museum) accommodates a number of rare airworthy old-timer airplanes.

On February 17, the FlightGear development team published the v3.4 release of FlightGear, the free, open-source flight simulator. This new version contains many exciting new features, enhancements and bug fixes.

Thanks to changes in the way random vegetation is managed when not visible, FlightGear can now render volumetric grass on the terrain (for instance the airport keep) using the random vegetation system without blowing memory consumption. A grass texture matching color with the ALS airport keep effect is already available, but not activated by default since it doesn't look so good with other rendering frameworks.

The rendering logic for [[AI]] aircraft has changed recently. Whether they are drawn or not now depends on their projected size on the screen and not on their distance.
Please check these properties:
* <code>/sim/rendering/static-lod/ai-range-model-pixel</code> (should be true)
* <code>/sim/rendering/static-lod/ai-detailed</code> (should be 30)
With this configuration, AI aircraft bigger than 30 pixels on the screen should show up.

For a long time, the FlightGear (Sea) Harrier has been unmaintained. However, in early 2014, it's development restarted. {{usr|Red Leader}}, it's new maintainer and developer, has added a host of new features to it, including guided missiles, new [[Nasal]] scripts, and a [[Canvas]] {{abbr|HDD|Head-down display}}.

The 2.4.0 version of the Sea Harrier has been released, with the following changes:

* Bbackwards-compatibility bugs fixed.
* A change to the sound system so that there is no sound when FlightGear loads.

The '''[[Cessna 550 Citation II]]''', a light business jet, has received several updates, with more still to come. Ludovic Brenta and {{usr|chris_blues}} have put in a lot of time to polish up and improve this aircraft.

The Cessna Sierra Super II has also been added to the Citation II package. This is essentially an aftermarket modifcation of the Citation II, with new, more powerful engines giving an impressive rate of climb and greater fuel economy.
