First tests
I'm testing the template at Weather, here are my observations. It's a bit hard to embed it in the text.
- The WP: prefix is somewhat disruptive. Possibly the "external link" icon could be substituted by a "wikipedia" icon?
- Multiple words (as in "dew point") get split in a funny way and the link takes only the first word.
- It's not possible to use an alternative text, as in [http://www.link.org this is a link]. Could that be a second anonymous parameter? (note that I don't know how templates work).

- 1. Yes, I have been thinking about that, though more from the perspective that some readers would wonder what WP might stand for. I created and uploaded an icon:
. How about an option to use a "... on language Wikipedia" suffix instead (English not being shown)? - 2. Oops. Must be missing underscores is my current guess. I wonder how to get them there.
- 3. Good point. Did not have a thought of that. It should be easy to add, though one has to remember that some readers probably will never see them.
- I have to think a bit about how to solve the first two, in particular 2. could be difficult. The alternative is of course to cut and paste from the URL, but I have a gut feeling that there might be some functionality to add the underscores. The last one should be easy.
- It seems that it is OK to use the Wikipedia logo to link to Wikipedia, but in order to preserve the details in the logos they, depending in which logo, do not like if a logo is in a smaller size than 36-56 pixels, with the exception of the "W" icon, whose maximum size is 56 pixels.

- Point one and two should now be fixed. There was indeed functionality to add the underscores in the link. I had seen it before, but forgotten about it.
- Could you elaborate on the third point. What I wonder is if you only want to show the URL of the link, the page title (and maybe language) or something completely else.
- I think I will tinker with the icon a bit and probably go for a smaller fixed size icon with a 1 px border. The current one is not up to my standards.

- Sure. One might need to present some other words than the title of the page, an example is the link to the "planetary" boundary layer here. In particular that would be needed if you want to link to a particular section of a page and have to use the #section part. So yes, by alternative text I meant what you can do with regular links. Implemented Thanks for the the explanation. I had first though that you meant the mouse-over texts but they can not be trusted to be visible to a user.
