Flugplatz Uetersen.jpg
On 28th May 1987, Mathias Rust, a German national aged 18 and with only 50 hours of flying experience, took off from Uetersen (above), near Hamburg in Cessna F172P D-ECJB. This would be the start of a long journey, which would end with his arrest by Russian police for landing his aircraft in the centre of Moscow. (For more details https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathias_Rust). The aircraft was returned to Germany in 2008 and can be seen in the Deutsches Technikmuseum in Berlin.

The Cessna 172P has been Flightgear's default aircraft since 2000 and is available in 5 variants with 2 engine sizes.
