- September 12th, 2016:with a /little/ delay Torsten just released FlightGear 2016.3.1! Installers for Windows and OSX as well as source tarballs of FlightGear and SimGear are available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/flightgear/files/release-2016.3/ Those files are the same as the release-candidate files but with the -rc in their names being removed. In case you downloaded the release candidates, there is no need to download these files again. Enjoy FlightGear 2016.3.1 and the stunning Rio scenery. Thanks to everybody who made this release possible.[1]
- September 9th, 2016:For your information, 2016.3.1 release candidates are out - the final release (where the bug is fixed) should, therefore, be out in a few days if no critical bugs are found. If you find serious errors, please file a ticket on the bug tracker![2]
- Aug 17th, 2016: Due to some Jenkins issues, some pending code changes from James and the this-time-of-the-year-again time constraints it will take probably until early September before we can release. This will hopefully give us the time to fix some of the recently discovered issues. [3]

- April 8, 2016: The FlightGear Project turns 20 years old (original proposal)!
- February 17, 2016: FlightGear 2016.1 "San Francisco" is released.

- April 15, 2015: FlightGear completes the move from Gitorious to SourceForge.
