The 787-8 is the base model of the 787 family with a length of 186 feet (57 m) and a wingspan of 197 feet (60 m) and a range of 7,650 to 8,200 nautical miles (14,200 to 15,200 km) depending on seating configuration. The 787- 8 seats 210 passengers in a three class configuration. The variant will be the first of the 787 line to enter service in 2010.
The '''Boeing 787 ''Dreamliner''''' is a mid-sized, wide-body, twin engine jet [[:Category:Airliners|airliner]] currently under development by [[:Category:Boeing|Boeing]] Commercial Airplanes. It will carry between 210 and 330 passengers depending on variant and seating configuration. Boeing has stated that it will be more fuel-efficient than earlier Boeing airliners and will also be the first major airliner to use composite materials for most of its construction. Boeing's development of the 787 is also innovative in the collaborative management approach with suppliers.
Until January 28, 2005, the 787 was known by the developmental designator 7E7. Early released concept images depicted a radical design with highly curved surfaces. On April 26, 2005, a year after the launch of the program, the final look of the external 787 design was frozen, with a less rakish nose and a more conventional tail.
Boeing featured its first 787 in a rollout ceremony on July 8, 2007 at its assembly factory in Everett, Washington, by which time it had become the fastest-selling wide body airliner in history with nearly 600 orders. Originally scheduled to enter service in May 2008, production has been delayed and it is currently scheduled to enter into service in late 2009. most buttons are not clickable, click on the gear lever to raise the gears. Then reset FlightGear, as you will crash. When you return, buttons should work. Follow the above instructions to restart the engines.
Current Changes==FDM :* Engines down from 90500 to 66500 lbs of thrust *Cruise speed down to 488.* Cruise alt up to 40000 *Slightly adjusted weight.* Somehow removed elevator spazz.* Repositioned hstab and vstab, eliminated elevator spazz.* Adjusted approach from 120 and aoa at 7 to 155 speed and aoa at 0 *Added pushback thruster *Added 6 adjustable weights-crew, first class, business class, economy class, front cargo, and rear cargo *Slowed down flap extension rate-from 5 seconds 0-full to 40 seconds 0-full. *Improved fuselage model in the FDM for better drag realism *Changed engine fuel consumption data
:*Pushback model (it rotates when the rudder is turned, but not to the same amount of wheel turn)*Gear smoke (from 777)*Contrails added* Tailstrike spark effect (a modified gear smoke code)* Smoke associated with tailstrike* Tailstrike effect on the engines
Kept the original FDM and made it into its own aircraft-787STOL.* Autopilot works with 2. 0 successfully in all areas.
*Bring back GPWS callouts*Redo cockpit to a real 787 type cockpit (see image linked to below)*Extend fuselage model and make a 787-9, with FDM as well.
