FlightGear cuenta con aeronaves y otro contenido disponible desde hangares de terceros, algunos de los cuales son compatibles con GPL y también están incluidos en distribuciones oficiales, mientras que otros son independientes. Las versiones de las aeronaves van desde las que requieren una versión de desarrollo a las compatibles con la última versión principal o a las que requieren una versión anterior.
