Development status/Issues/Todo

c172x Cessna 172 flight dynamics testbed -> when using this alias, Flightgear aborts loading !

Outside:

  • when moving the rudder controls, there is a small error at the tail of the rudder
  • no cockpit light at night visible
  • no pilot and co pilot visible
  • aircraft has no shadow
  • strobe lights barley available (the ones of the b0105 helictopter look much better)
    • Strobes not yet implemented. Anti-collision light blinks to the front but currently shows constant red aft.
  • landing lights are missing

3d Cockpit:

  • cockpit instruments do light at night, but the cockpit itself stays dark
  • no rudder control pedals available
  • can't hear sound when pressing the switches and levers in the cockpit
    • It is questionable whether switchgear and levers can be heard over the engine in the real aircraft.
  • cockpit instruments look flat, they don't have a 3d look
    • According to Aircraft Readme, 3d instruments are WIP.
  • cockpit is textured but textures need more polish, for example there are no door opener visible at the side doors
    • It's not a museum, the game is for people who want to fly the aircraft, not to sit inside the cockpit and look around.
  • one of the levers has an error, it looks like a square and it is not round like the lever should be
    • The Carb Heat control on the real 172P *is* square in shape.
  • no pilot or co pilot present
  • cockpit window has no windscreen wipers
    • The Cessna 172 is not fitted with windscreen wipers.
