}}787-8
The Boeing 787-8, the first model of the aircraft to see production.The 787-8 is the base model of the 787 family with a length of 186 feet (57 m) and a wingspan of 197 feet (60 m) and a range of 7,650 to 8,200 nautical miles (14,200 to 15,200 km) depending on seating configuration. The 787-8 seats 210 passengers in a three class configuration. The variant will be the first of the 787 line to enter service in 2010.

The '''Boeing 787 ''Dreamliner''''' is a mid-sized, wide-body, twin engine jet [[:Category:Airliners|airliner]] currently under development by [[:Category:Boeing|Boeing]] Commercial Airplanes. It will carry between 210 and 330 passengers depending on variant and seating configuration. Boeing has stated that it will be more fuel-efficient than earlier Boeing airliners and will also be the first major airliner to use composite materials for most of its construction. Boeing's development of the 787 is also innovative in the collaborative management approach with suppliers.

Until January 28, 2005, the 787 was known by the developmental designator 7E7. Early released concept images depicted a radical design with highly curved surfaces. On April 26, 2005, a year after the launch of the program, the final look of the external 787 design was frozen, with a less rakish nose and a more conventional tail.

This is for the version unfortunately not available on the official Download page , but is available through Git and the version provided in the link above (the link above is slightly newer).

Boeing featured its first 787 in a rollout ceremony on July 8, 2007 at its assembly factory in Everett, Washington, by which time it had become the fastest-selling wide body airliner in history with nearly 600 orders. Originally scheduled to enter service in May 2008, production has been delayed and it is currently scheduled to enter into service in late 2009.

If buttons do not work on startup, click on the HUD with the left button and move the view around. Then return to middle view. If the HUD activates, buttons work. In older versions, you may have to middle click on it to rotate it. Middle click or left click on it to move it back into place.

FDM:
*Engines down from 90500 to 66500 lbs of thrust
*Cruise speed down to 488.
*Cruise alt up to 37000
*Slightly adjusted weight.
*Repositioned hstab and vstab, eliminated elevator spazz.
*Adjusted approach from 120 and aoa at 7 to 150 and aoa at .5
*Added pushback thruster
*Added 6 adjustable weights-crew, first class, business class, economy class, front cargo, and rear cargo
*Slowed down flap extension rate-from 5 seconds 0-full to 40 seconds 0-full.
*Improved fuselage model in the FDM for better drag realism
*Changed engine fuel consumption data

Models:
== Development ==
*Pushback model (it rotates when the rudder is turned, but not to the same amount of wheel turn)
=== FDM ===
*Gear smoke (from 777)
* Approach speed is now 130 KIAS and 8% fuel.
*Contrails added
* Service ceiling is around 43000 feet.
*Tailstrike spark effect (a modified gear smoke code)
* Multiple geometry wing.
*Smoke associated with tailstrike
* Spoiler script using each wing separately.
*Tailstrike effect on the engines
* Modified reverse thrust script.

Other:
=== Models ===
*Autopilot works with 2.0 successfully in all areas, but may need a bit of tweaking.
* Pushback added
* Gear smoke (from 777)
* Contrails added
* HUD now is activated only with by clicking on it instead of using FG HUD; it can also be flipped out of the way with middle click.
* HUDs for captain, cockpit operate independently.
* Added copilot view.
* Switches some buttons to pick animations. Some also operate with clicking with left mouse button and clicking on the wheel for coarse switch, and scroll wheel on the mouse for fine tuning.
* The main animation properties that don't normally go over MP now are transferred over MP, such as the engines, wing surface positions, and all lights except those for the cockpit (the cabin lights affect the outside, so they were included).
* Development version: OHP development. See forum thread for more details.
* Main gear fold animations now work perfectly.

==To-do==
=== Other ===
*Bring back GPWS callouts
* Autopilot has been updated to smooth out control surface transitions.
*Redo cockpit to a real 787 type cockpit (see image linked to below)
* [http://liveries.flightgear.org/download/paintkits/6.zip Paintkit in separate link.]
*Extend fuselage model and make a 787-9, with FDM as well.
* [http://www.mediafire.com/?b50hwbvk92bpuuu Development version is not guaranteed to work, but will include some more developments than what is listed on this page, mainly cockpit stuff. Check the forum thread for more details.]
* [http://forum.flightgear.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9541&start=210 The forum thread.]
