The first model made will be the Avro RJ-70, the smallest version of the family shared with the BAe-146-100. The second model will be the larger and more popular Bae-146-200, and maybe later the 300 or Avro RJ equivalent model.

Manufacture of the improved version known as the Avro RJ began in 1992. A further-improved version, the Avro RJX – with new engines – was announced in 1997, but only two prototypes and one production aircraft were built before production ceased in late 2001.
