Fairchild A-10

The Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is a single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft designed to provide close air support (CAS) of ground forces by attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets. As a secondary mission, it provides airborne forward air control, guiding other attack aircraft against ground targets. It is the first US Air Force aircraft designed exclusively for close air support (CAS) of ground forces. Read more on Wikipedia: [2]

The current developement version is available at [3].

North American OV-10A Bronco

"The North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco is a turboprop-driven light attack and cargo aircraft. Although it is a fixed-wing aircraft, its mission capabilities resemble a fast, long-range, inexpensive and reliable ultra-heavy attack helicopter. It flies at 350 mph (560 km/h), carries 3 tons of external munitions, and easily loiters for 3 or more hours. It is prized for its versatility, redundancy, load, wide field of view, short-field ability, low operational costs and ease of maintenance." Read more on Wikipedia: OV-10 Bronco

The current model supports a "weather radar" displaying AI weather objects. It does not display METAR "real weather" downloaded by the FG weather system.

Northrop T-38

"In the mid-1950s, the USAF required a trainer with higher performance than the T-33 to better prepare student pilots for the latest tactical aircraft that were then coming into service. The aircraft chosen was the T-38A which offered high performance with low maintenance and operating costs. The T-38A became the USAF's first supersonic trainer." Source: NORTHROP T-38A "TALON"

Read more on the Wikipedia abou the T38 Talon

The current model uses a 2D cockpit, and supports display of AI aircraft objects on an air-air radar screen. See the Aircraft/Instruments/radar.xml file for details, or fly the T-38 for a demo. Yes, the T-38 does not actually have radar, but it was chosen here to be the demonstrator aircraft for radar. It also demonstrates how instruments can be minimized and maximized in 2D panels.

Schweizer 2-33

The Schweizer 2-33 uses a 2D instrument panel containing a Netto Variometer. This instrument displays the instantaneous vertical speed of the surrrounding air mass, in knots. The model begins at 3000 feet altitude and 60 knots airspeed. It takes some time for the model to stabilize initially, and a very long time for the VSI to stabilize. By default the model sets up a thermal scenario which places several thermals and sinks around San Francisco Bay. Please see the related article on Soaring.
