This section will someday properly describe building the FlightGear Launch Control (AKA fgrun) application on Microsoft Windows with Visual Studio Express version 8.

  1. Get the command line tool SVN for Windows
  2. Download Visual Studio Express C++ from Microsoft's website - please note that you'll probably want to download the offline installation image file (iso) which -unlike the web installation- doesn't require any complicated and long-winded registration process. The direct link to the latest version (as of 11/2008) is this one - after having downloaded the iso image, you'll either have to burn it or simply mount it in order to execute the installation.
  3. Get fltk 1.1.7 or later for Windows
  4. Get plib
  5. Get SimGear
  6. Get the fgrun source code from SVN:
    svn co https://fgrun.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/fgrun/trunk fgrun
  7. Revise the paths to dependencies in fgrun.vcproj to properly reflect your directory layout.
