Hi fellow wiki editors!

To help newly registered users get more familiar with the wiki (and maybe older users too) there is now a {{Welcome to the wiki}} template. Have a look at it and feel free to add it to new users discussion pages (and perhaps your own).

I have tried to keep the template short, but meaningful. /Johan G

Template:Splitapart

Split-arrows.gif
It has been suggested that this section be split off into a new article.
The following template description is not displayed when the template is inserted in an article.

Goal

This template can be placed at the top of a section that is to be split off from an article.

Pages marked with this template will automatically be added to the category Articles to be split. Categorisation can be suppressed with the nocat parameter.

Splitting of a section can be done if it is off topic from the article, makes the article very long or could be better maintained as a separate article etc. The split is done by moving text from a section to a new page.

Usage

The template is placed at the top of the section to be split off.

{{splitapart|discussion page |date=August 2019 |nocat=}}
discussion page
Optional name of a discussion page with a section about the split.
date
Optional date the split was proposed in m YYYY format, for example August 2019.
nocat
Optionally suppresses automatic categorisation if true. Useful in examples.

It is recommended that the motivation for split is discussed on the discussion page, preferably as a new section named something like Split off <section>.
