Hi fellow wiki editors!

To help newly registered users get more familiar with the wiki (and maybe older users too) there is now a {{Welcome to the wiki}} template. Have a look at it and feel free to add it to new users discussion pages (and perhaps your own).

This template is outdated but is kept for historical reference.


The following template description is not displayed when the template is inserted in an article.

Goal

This template can be used on pages that are outdated or deprecated but still kept for historical reference.

Adding this template to a page will automatically add Category:Historical pages to that page.

Usage

All parameters are optional.

type
Type of page. For defaults see the {{namespace}} template. Also useful for demonstrative purposes.
tense
Grammatical tense of text. Defaults to is.
text
Other text than outdated.
reason
Short reason for why the page is considered historical enough to be kept. Should be only one or two sentences long.
talk
Talk page title, preferably also with the title of a section discussing keeping it.
date
Date the template was added. While currently not shown it may aid maintenance.
nocat
If not empty the page will not be automatically categorized. Useful for demonstrative purposes.

Examples

Using the template on a page in the main/article namespace having no talk page and without any parameters:

This article is outdated but is kept for historical reference.


Using the template on a draft using all parameters:

| tense  = was
| text   = never completed
| reason = While never completed it spawned a vivid discussion on the forum about the use of example drafts resulting in some additional rules.

| date   = 19 August 2019
| nocat  = 1  <!-- As this is an example -->
}}
This example draft was never completed but is kept for historical reference.

While never completed it spawned a vivid discussion on the village pump about the use of example drafts resulting in some additional rules.
