Talk:$FG ROOT

I have installed flightgear on a ubuntu 17.10 system, but cannot figure out how to connect up the $FG_ROOT system. i get the following error message when I try to run:

FlightGear: Version 2017.4.0 FlightGear: Build Type Dev Built with GNU C++ version 7.2 Jenkins number/ID 0:none QStandardPaths: SDG_RUNTIME_DIR not set, defaulting to '/tmp/runtime-root' No protocol specified Aborted

My data is in ~/Desktop/AsimTry/install/flightgear/fgdata

I created a link in ~/.fgfs to "fgdata" at the above address.

What should I do to help it find the data files?
