Island Virtual Airways (IslandVA) was a FlightGear orientated virtual airline. It's main hub was Princess Juliana International Airport and the airline provided flights to some major airports in Europe, the United States and Asia. It was one of the first virtual airlines in Flightgear, hoping to live long and encourage the creation of more virtual airlines in Flightgear, and therefore making Flightgear and FG Multiplayer more popular and sociable.

Members

There is no longer a list of the pilots that flew for IVA, but it is recorded that at one time, IVA had 45 registered pilots, which was more then any other virtual airline at that time.

Cargo Branch

Island Virtual Airways also provided a cargo service that served all over the world from any two airports that the fleet was capable of. Pilots transporting cargo for IVA used the callsign IVC-xxx (where xxx is the number from their normal callsign).

Downfall and collapse

Around late 2008/early 2009, IslandVA began to lose popularity due to competition, issues with the website and the owners losing time to publicize and even maintain the airline. During the spring of 2009, the airline started to decay and eventually died out over the summer. Although the website stayed up until winter, the official date of the collapse of IVA is considered to be July 30th 2009.
